Monday 23 January was a very exciting day for everyone at Kingsdown School as the Mayor, Cllr David Norman officially opened the new swimming pool with a ‘cutting of the ribbon’ ceremony. Pupils celebrated by releasing multicoloured balloons. The invited guests were then able to see a class of pupils enjoying swimming in the pool.
Everyone then assembled in the main hall where the Mayor gave a short speech and a response was given by Peter Davies, Chair of Governors. This was followed by a wonderful musical celebration led by David Stanley Deputy Head Teacher at Eastwood Academy where everyone enjoyed participating in a selection of songs. David was accompanied by pupils from Eastwood who very kindly sang and played for us.
It really was a very special day for Kingsdown and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped make the swimming pool possible, it will be enjoyed enormously by all the pupils.
