The combined team of St Thomas More and Kingsdown School reached the national final of the Kielder Challenge after competing against three hundred schools throughout Great Britain. Over the weekend of 25th – 27th September the team gained second place after performing the six individual challenges over a long and very competitive and enjoyable weekend. It was a very close result.
The team won the Unity Shield which is awarded after consultation with all teams, organisers and staff at the Kielder competition. It celebrates the team who demonstrates the qualities encouraged by the fieldfare trust, friendship, endeavour, support to others, overall friendship and inclusivity.
The Kielder Challenge offers a rare experience for young disabled and able-bodied people to compete together in solving environmental problems set in the local environment. Congratulations to both schools.
